Challenges presented by Coronavirus have led to a great deal of additional preparation. Below are measures that LBR will take in order to mitigate the risk of infection amongst those both directly and indirectly involved with the program. These measures are intended to be fluid and subject to change as needed.
General Guidance
- All players and coaches will be reminded regularly to frequently wash hands, utilize face coverings while on sidelines, cover coughs and sneezes. Hand sanitizer will always be on hand and available
- Personal water bottles will be required, as there will be no shared water coolers
On Field Guidance
- Coach mask requirements whenever possible, and without exception when a 6’ player to coach proximity cannot be maintained
- Players will be required to utilize a face covering when not actively participating, when on sidelines, before and after practice.
- Alternate gestures of good sportsmanship (other than hand shaking and high fives) to be enforced
Social Distancing
- Group size and proximity while conducting drills or on the sideline will be limited
- In order to limit contact, guardians will not be present during practice. An exception will be made for the K-2 division. A limited amount of team helpers (who may also be guardians) may be present to help sanitize equipment
- Limit of two spectators per child at football contests
- Spectators at contest must utilize face coverings when 6’ distancing cannot be maintained
Screening
- Temperature checks of all athletes and coaches will be conducted using non contact thermometers ahead of practices and contests. Any readings above normal will result in dismissal, and recommended monitoring and doctor visit as appropriate
- Guardians will be frequently reminded to self monitor and to keep any player exhibiting symptoms (fever, vomiting, stomach pain, etc…) home
Sanitization and Equipment
- Disinfecting of balls and equipment before, during and after practice
- Football gloves are recommended
